Illustration Friday: Surrender

Summer Returns
The swallows will have to surrender to their instinct to fly north for the summer. I'm looking forward to that, it's freezing here! You can have a look at all the other Surrender illustrations here!

  1. I love the contrast of one color! Lovely illustration.

  2. This is really cool. I'd like to see a night time version with stars instead of birds.

This would make a cool tile.

  3. Very nice. They navigate their journey by the sun/moon, stars, landscape features. Quite unbelievable. Your drawing shows that they aren't afraid to cross waters, rivers or seas.

  5. Thanks for your comments!

Indigene, Cheryl and Naomi: I really love blue and for a subject like this where it's all sky and water it seemed overkill to have any other colour. I'm glad you agree!

    Linda: Thanks!

Rubin: Thanks Rubin, love the stars idea! I'm glad you thought it would look good as a tile; on a similar train of thought I had a repeat textile design in the back of my mind (maybe just the birds).

Mindful Drawing: Yes it's amazing, according to the RSPB they can cover 200 miles per day!

  6. Great job - I hope there's some land just on the other side of your frame so the poor birdies can rest now and then! :)
