Wild Cub

This album has been helping me feel sunnier on these grey and rainy days; especially this song:

And I've been dreaming of being back on this holiday in Portugal:

New in the shop: Pines & Cranes in the new nighttime version and a daytime version to match. They're based on a previous design which I had printed in a new colour with added texture for some pouches.

I can't decide which I like best; do you have a favourite?

Sunshine

It's been a long time coming but we've had some lovely weather this week and lots of sunshine! It's great to have the windows open, everything smells so great. We're finally getting plenty of leaves on the trees and I've been working on this this week..

Black Bird, Silver Birch

I thought it would be good on a small scale for lots of uses so I've uploaded it as a swatch to the Spoonflower shop where you can order it on linen, silk, cotton or wall decal!

Sumerian Triangles

I liked the look of the stamped triangles in my last design and thought they deserved one all on their own:

Sumerian Triangles

They remind me a lot of the marks made in cuneiform so the pattern's named after the people who invented it.

Jhali..

.. is a set of four designs for this week's spoonflower contest: coordinates. I originally meant to call it Jhari (which, according to my Google search, means river in Sanskrit) because of the Indian feel to it and also because it is based on water gardens and fountains. Uploading the design last minute I mistyped and I think I prefer the typo - so Jhali it is! Does anyone know what that means (in any language)? I'd love to know; hope it's not rude :)

You can have a look at all the other coordinating patterns that the talented members of Spoonflower have uploaded here.. and vote of course!

I really hope you had a fantastic new year's eve and that 2012 will be good to you!

Northern Autumn, Southern Spring

Northern Autumn, Southern Spring
A limited palette (3-colour plus white) design for the Autumn contest. The background is grey - my 3rd colour - with a white pattern that's ended up looking quite warm and felty. If you have a sec, vote here!

`Apapanes and `Ōhi'a Lehua Blossom

`Apapanes and `Ōhi'a Lehua Blossom for this week's contest at Spoonflower.
`Ōhi'a Lehua trees are amazing: they grow right out of the bare lava on the Hawaiian islands. They're also the main nectar source for `Apapane birds, a type of honeycreeper whose feathers match the colour of the tree's flowers exactly. In this design the grey background represents the lava plain and the top and bottom borders are for the volcanoes and famous ocean surf of Hawaii.

This was made for the Hawaiian contest at Spoonflower that was palette limited to just 3 colours (+ white). You can have a look at all the entries and vote for your favourites here, read more about the birds here or visit the Forest & Sea page on Spoonflower here! I hope everyone's having a good week.
